52 Columbia Gorge - Basalt
Basalt is simply the most interesting rock on earth. First it flows out and layers like so many pancakes, then in hardening it crystallizes in infinitely long hexagon pillars, then in weathering it chips and cracks to knife-edge forms. Picasso would be envious.
