A Find
	Fishing is somtimes a series of finds. Maybe it's a fly, or a hatch, or a riffle that bristles with fish at a certain time of day, but it happens to all of us. You walk away saying "wow, what I just discovered." Some finds should be kept secret, for obvious reasons. Others should be shared. This one was one of the latter. It started, unlikly enough, with an insurance salesman trying to sell me life insurance, knowing I had a weakness for things fly-fishing, not knowing anything about fly-fishing but being abass fisherman. I could tell. He kept talking about "poles". "Hey, you want a new fly POLE? I know a guy who can get you anything you want. For CHEAP. I mean, graphite POLES, anything. This guy's got everything you could want, ten thousand POLES right in his attic. Loomis mostly. Don't you need a new POLE?" "Well, not really. I've got 14 or 15 fly rods, at last count. I really don't need anything else. And usually I build my own from blanks. I can't afford a good rod factory built." "He's got blanks, thousands of blanks, $20." "What? $20? Graphite? Loomis? "Hell yes, graphite, IMG, IM6, everything Loomis makes." "Does he have 4 piece travel rod blanks?" "He's got everything. The four piece are maybe, $40. I can't believe myself the rods I've bought there. You'll go crazy when you see it. Anything you want. And I mean CHEAP." My mind ran over a list of what I might just need, for $20. "Well, I could use a 12 wt. for tarpon in case I win the Oregon lottery, and a 4 piece 5 wt. as a travel back up. And I was impressed with the 10 1/2 foot Loomis steelhead rods in 7 and 9 weight when I tried them at the sports show, and.........." "Wait, wait, you'll have to pick out what you want yourself. I couldn't even begin to remember all that. And this guy don't know that much about fly fishing or anything. Most of his businss is spinning and casting and drifting stuff. I'll call him and set it up and we'll go out there together and get us some POLES. I was skeptical. Someone living within ten miles of Eugene with an inventory of 10,000 Loomis and Winston blanks and I hadn't heard of it? Pshaw!
