In this case I am hauling during the advance of the potential “pulley” in the rod. The “advance” would be the increasing distance between the leading edge of the rod (/pulley) from the line hand….which is pulling back and away…FAST!

In this case the line is advanced TWICE the distance the pulley has moved forward (from it’s starting point) AND the distance the line hand has pulled back. Both those distances equate to SPEED. And that increase in line speed is IN ADDITION to the basic, vigorous acceleration that is occurring as a result of rod rotation and hand extension!!!
